Our Story

Two mills, one record.

Janata Jute Mills Ltd. is a private limited company established in 1966, located at Palash, Narsingdi, approximately 50 km northeast of Dhaka, on a site covering 45 acres. Sadat Jute Industries Ltd. was established in 1985 at Debidwar, Cumilla, on the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway, approximately 85 km southeast of Dhaka, covering 17 acres. In 2020, Janata Jute Mills expanded with a second production unit by acquiring another jute mill at Dobra, Boalmari, Faridpur, covering 47 acres.

Combined, Janata and Sadat form the largest manufacturer and exporter of jute products in the private sector in Bangladesh, and are part of the diversified business unit at AkijBashir Group. The companies operate multiple dedicated mills producing the widest range of diversified jute products, exported to 147 countries till now.

    Janata Jute Mills Ltd. established at Palash, Narsingdi; Mill # 1 begins production.

    Sadat Jute Industries Ltd. established at Debidwar, Cumilla.

  3. 1996 – 2008

    Janata Mill # 3 (1996), # 4 (2000), # 5 (2004), # 6 (2008); Sadat Processed Fiber Unit (2001).

  4. 2020

    Janata Jute Mills Ltd. expanded its business by acquiring another jute mill at Faridpur district.
