Solar Energy System

Spinning on daylight

A 30 MW photovoltaic array on the factory shed roof at our three mills, generating into the working day and backed by the grid. It is the first step on a roof with room for more.

  • Roof, not farmland

The panels sit on an existing factory shed at Palash. No land was taken out of agriculture to carry them, and they shade the shed they stand on.

  • Generating into the working day

Output peaks through the hours the mills are running, so what the array makes is drawn on site rather than exported to the grid.

  • Grid as the backstop

The mill stays grid-tied. The array carries what it can through the day and the grid covers nights and monsoon weeks, so production never waits on the weather.

  • A first step, not the whole plan

Thirty kilowatts is one shed. It is the installed figure the company reports today, and the roofs at Palash leave room for the array to be extended.

Next phase

Biomass co-firing in the steam boilers, targeting a further 12% reduction in emissions.

Water Treatment Plant (WTP)

The water that goes in

Before a drop reaches the dye house, a boiler or a drinking point, it passes through our own treatment plant. The ETP cleans what leaves; the WTP decides what enters.

Treatment Train

  1. 01Deep Tube-Well Intake — Groundwater drawn on site and metered before it enters the plant
  2. 02Aeration & Iron Removal — Dissolved iron and manganese oxidised, then settled out
  3. 03Sand & Carbon Filtration — Multigrade sand beds for solids, activated carbon for odour and organics
  4. 04Softening — Hardness brought down so dye uptake stays even and boilers stay clean
  5. 05Disinfection & Storage — Treated water dosed, stored and distributed to process, boiler and drinking lines

Where It Goes

  • Dyeing & Batching

Soft, iron-free water so shades repeat lot to lot and emulsions stay stable.

  • Boiler Feed

Low hardness protects the steam plant from scale and keeps fuel use down.

  • Drinking Water

The same plant supplies the drinking points across the mill and the colony.

Plant Record

Treatment capacity
25 m³ per hour, run to the shift pattern of the dye house.
Source
On-site deep tube-wells, metered so abstraction is tracked against consent.
Testing
pH, hardness, iron and TDS checked daily in the same lab that tests the yarn.
Recovery
Backwash water is settled and returned to the front of the plant rather than drained.
Standards
Treated water meets Bangladesh drinking-water standards at the drinking points.

Environmental Technology

Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)

Our state-of-the-art ETP processes 10 metric tons of dyeing wastewater daily, ensuring zero harmful discharge into local ecosystems.

  1. 01Influent Collection — Raw dyeing wastewater collected from production lines
  2. 02Chemical Treatment — pH neutralisation and coagulation of heavy metals
  3. 03Biological Filter — Aeration tanks with microbial degradation of organic waste
  4. 04Sedimentation — Gravity settling removes remaining particulates
  5. 05Clean Effluent — Treated water meeting DoE standards — safe for discharge

Treatment Capacity

20 m³

Our ETP runs 24 hours a day, treating all wastewater generated by our dyeing operations before it reaches any water body.

Zero-Discharge Compliance

  • DoE (Department of Environment) Bangladesh standards fully met
  • Heavy metals reduced to safe levels before any release
  • pH neutralised to natural range (6.5–8.5)
  • BOD/COD within international discharge limits
  • Annual third-party environmental audit passed

Circular Economy · Waste to Wealth

Waste Transformed
into High-Value Products

Since 2008 — 17 years of circular practice

In 2008, we pioneered a solution that transformed production waste into a commercial opportunity. Instead of discarding jute fibre by-products, we established a dedicated facility to manufacture non-woven felt and felt products.

Today this initiative captures 100% of eligible process waste, re-engineering it into high-value industrial materials for automotive interior components and premium furniture padding.

  • Automotive

Door panels, trunk liners, and acoustic insulation

  • Furniture

Non-woven backing for premium upholstery padding

  • Industrial

    Geotextiles, erosion-control mats, filtration media

Zero Wastage

Nothing leaves unaccounted for

Every stream a mill produces has a named route and a named destination. Where a by-product has a buyer it becomes a product; where it has none, it is treated, recovered or handed to a licensed handler.

  • 01

Nothing leaves a mill unsegregated — every stream is sorted where it is made, not at the gate.

  • 02

A by-product with a buyer is a product; the felt line exists because caddies had one.

  • 03

Landfill is the last resort and is measured as a failure, not a cost line.

  • 04

Diversion is counted monthly and audited once a year by a third party.

Verified

Diversion is tracked monthly and confirmed in the annual third-party environmental audit.

Natural Advantage

Why Jute is Nature's Fibre

The raw material we work with is itself a climate solution. Here's why jute stands apart from every synthetic alternative.

  • Carbon Positive

Absorbs CO₂ Faster Than Most Trees

Jute plants sequester approximately 2.4 tonnes of carbon per hectare per year — significantly more than most forest species. Every growing cycle actively removes carbon from the atmosphere, making each product carbon-net-positive from the field.

    2.4TCO₂ / hectare / year
15× more effective than pine forests
  • 100% Biodegradable

Returns to Earth. Leaves No Microplastics.

Unlike synthetic fibres that fragment into persistent microplastics, our jute products fully biodegrade within 1–2 years under natural conditions. No harmful residue enters the soil or water supply — just nutrients that complete nature's own cycle.

    1–2 yrsFull biodegradation
    Zero microplastic footprint
  • Zero-Waste Goal

Minimising Every Ounce of Landfill Impact

Our integrated approach spans the full value chain: ETP for liquid waste, circular felt manufacturing for solid by-products, and energy recovery from non-recyclable residues. We track waste diversion monthly and publish annual reduction targets.
