The European Union's Green Deal infrastructure policy has triggered an unprecedented shift in procurement behaviour across the continent's civil engineering sector — and Janata Sadat is positioned at the centre of that transformation.

Two landmark framework agreements signed in Q1 2024 with BauGreen GmbH of Hamburg and Rijkswaterstaat-linked contractor DeltaFibre NV of Rotterdam will see Janata Sadat supply a combined 2,400 metric tonnes of certified jute geo-textiles annually. The contracts, covering slope stabilisation, erosion-control blankets, and biodegradable drainage netting for motorway and coastal projects, represent the largest single-year European commitments in the company's forty-year export history.

“The era of synthetic geo-synthetics dominating European infrastructure is drawing to a close. Our mills have been preparing for this moment for a decade — investing in tensile strength, moisture management, and third-party certification so that when policy created the market, we were ready to serve it.”

A Policy-Driven Market Shift

Under the EU Green Deal's Biodiversity Strategy and the revised Construction Products Regulation, public infrastructure tenders across member states increasingly mandate biodegradable alternatives to polypropylene and polyester geotextiles for temporary civil applications. Industry analysts at Textile Exchange estimate the European jute geo-textile market will grow to €420 million by 2027, from approximately €160 million in 2022 — a CAGR that outpaces virtually every other industrial textile segment.

Janata Sadat's geo-textile range — manufactured at the Narsingdi facility under ISO 9001:2015 quality controls — passes the EN ISO 10319 wide-width tensile test and the EN ISO 11058 water permeability standard, meeting the specification thresholds required by both German RAL-GZ 572 and Dutch CROW 214 guidelines. The company intends to expand geo-textile production capacity by 35% before the end of 2024 to accommodate anticipated additional European demand.
